Essential Oils | Migraine Relief 

As a child / teen and young adult I suffered with terrible Migraines which I think stemmed from my Anxiety, (something i will get into at a later date.) I wanted to share some info about essential oils and Migraines to help all of those who suffer from them as I know how debilitating they can be. I hope this helps 🌿

Migraines can be helped by inhaling Rosemary , or , at the first onset of attack, by applying a cold compress of Lavender and/or peppermint to the forehead and temples. A hot compress of Marjoram which helps blood vessels expand can be applied to the back of the neck to encourage blood flow to the head.

Lavender , Marjoram , Peppermint and Rosemary can also be added to your bath to help relax during a Migraine attack. 

All of the oils mentioned can be used as an Inhalation remedy for Migraines. To make an inhalation simply add a few drops (I use 3-5 drops) of the essential oil to a bowl of hot water. The water should be left to cool for a while before adding the essences , otherwise the vapour will be too strong to inhale. Pop a large towel over your head and lean over the bowl. Inhaling for about 2 mins. Be sure to close your eyes. Also sufferers of asthma and hay fever or any other allergies should be carefully monitored when using inhalations and time should be reduced to 5 seconds. Do not use inhalations for too long. An immediate effect can be obtained by sprinkling a few drops of oil on a tissue and inhaling deeply.
